Thracian-Agouros-versus-Turkic-oeguer

Wilhelm-Tomaschek-Die Alten Thraker - Ancient Thracians

on Page 133 (Actually 3 of the second part of the book)

Tomaschek writes:

άγουρος ό έφηβος Θράχες, Aguros the youth of the Thracian.

Tomaschek tells about the other possibilities about the etymology of this word. (for instance Fick's attempt)

I would say it could be Turkic öğür/ögür meaning companion, a group of people, a unit (who are learning the art of war? ögre-: to learn).

Possible?

Turkish Version:

άγουρος: ό έφηβος Θράχες
Agouros, Trakların ergenleri demek, diyor Tomaşek.

Kendinden öncekilerin yaptığı köken çalışmalarını da verir.

Ben de maydanoz olayım.
Eski Türkçe öğür/ögür yoldaş, (beraber öğrenmiş) insan grubu, bölük demek.

Bence Türkçe sözcük de uyar.
