Pre-Greek-Ankhouros-versus-Tuerkic-ingir

Robert Beekes writes in his book Etymological Dictionary of Greek [1] about the word ἀγχοῦρος / ankhouros. He says, this Cypriot word is of unknown etymology.

*

All in all, a very uncertain matter (see pic above).

*

He writes on: the interchange ou/au is reliable, ... .

And I say: This should be reaction of the Greek ears to the Türkish letter "ı". (No, it is not an "i").

Why am I writing this Türkish letter now?

Because I have a proposal for the etymology of that word:

Look at this word we see in Starostin/Dybo's dictionary [2]:

*

And we can easily see [ng/ñ] fluctuations that arise when the nasal "ñ" (voiceless velar nasal) sound—characteristic of Turkish and the Altaic languages—is transliterated into foreign languages.

>  [ng/ñ] > nkh in Ankhouros.

*

That means, the Old Türkic word iñir/ıñır and much better the version that we can see in Khalaj dialect like äñgür that are meaning dusk are a hundert percent compatible with that Pre-Greek word ἀγχοῦρος / ankhour-os meaning dawn, both periods of twilight

Still questions?

Pre-Greek-gyris-versus-Proto-Altaic-gure

Flour (pic: wiki)

*

γῦρις ist a Pre-Greek word with an unclear etymology. It means flour. [1] [2]

Have I said "unclear etymology"?

I have the cure!

Look at Proto-Altaic *gure flour: Mong. *guril; Turk. *Kürüĺ; Jpn. *kuà; Kor. *kằrằ.

*

For me it is crystal clear. For you not?
