κῆρυξ - kiryks

Interesting word κῆρυξ

meaning public messenger, herald. A word with an uncertain etymology. Aolic equivalent is κᾶρῠξ (kârux)

In Old Turkic we have karı meaning old man/woman, sage, s/he whose words are being followed.
