The Karakoram is a mountain range spanning the borders of ChinaIndia, and Pakistan, with the northwest extremity of the range extending to Afghanistan and Tajikistan. I

Karakoram's name:

Karakoram is a Turkic term meaning black gravel. The Central Asian traders originally applied the name to the Karakoram Pass.


ME:

Karakorum is a Turkish name. It doesn't matter whether Kara is used as a color (black) or as a direction. Kurum means gravel. 

Kara means not only black and nord but also sacred, holy and great. * The K in the name of the peaks such as K1, K2, K3, … is the K of Karakorum.
