Latin-Caccabus-Greek-Kakkabos-cookingPot-Turkish-verb-kok

New chapter> Letter C by Paulys:

the word Caccabus:

1. Caccabus κάκκαβος > cooking pot, Kochtopf

2. A word with uncertain etymology acc. Frisk.

Frisk says, look at Akkadian kukkubu:

A Concise Dictionary of Akkadian - Harrassowitz Verlag - page 165

4. Gülensoy says Turkish kok- (to smell) shouldn't be ignored in this sense (he gives the example of KOKOREÇ> Kokar aş > smelling food).

The Greek words with "Koko-Kuku"should be examined under the new light of this knowledge of Turkish root kok-: to smell.

Sumerian 𒂁𒃻𒋫𒆸 (/gugguru/, “tall earthen vessel with a narrow opening”).

and other words from the region!

Caccabus has no convincing etymology:

I have already written about that on a smaller scale in 2019in my blog.

Adem's Blog about KOK-

And now in a wider sense.

Have a nice day...
