akinakes-a-scythian-short-sword

Akinakes

acc- to wiki it is a Scythian short sword/dagger whose name is not fully explained, I think.

Some say it is a derivation of Kingrak / a Turkish short sword/knife.

*

The word itself is worth looking at.

Akına: means Turkish something like to raid/razzia, from the root: ak- meaning to flow.

It is a possibility.

OR

from the root kına- meaning corporal punishment.

*

By the way KIN means the scabbard.

All Turkish words above are Old Turkish words. Maybe they are related to each other. Possible?

Uzunbacak Adem
