Turkic-Baklan-Pre-Greek-Pelikan

Baklan-A black pelican?

Pelikansılardan Baklan birçok Türk ağzında genelde büyük su kuşu, karabatak/kormoran anlamındadır. Türkçedir. (>Rusça баклан) Stachowski 'Yunanca Pelikan'ın bozulmuş şekli olabilir' der. PreGreek uzmanı Beekes ise 'Pelikan Yunanca-öncesi bir sözcüktür' der. * Çıkmaz sokaktayız.

*

EnglishVersion:

From the pelican-like birds, Baklan generally means a big water bird, cormorant/kormoran in many Turkish dialects.

It is a Turkish word. (>Russian баклан)

Stachowski says, 'Turkic baklan may be a corrupted form of the Greek Pelican'.

'Pelican is a pre-Greek (not a Greek) word,' says Pre-Greek expert Beekes.

We are in a dead end street.

Is it an older Turkic word that the Greeks took in dark ages?

Stachowski de Türkçe 'kaldırım' sözcüğünü Yunanca'dan getirenlerden >kalós drómos = iyi yol (iyi yol? 🤔🥸🤓) Buz gibi Türkçe kaldır- eylemi varken (ve anlam bakımından 100de100 uyumluyken) insan neden başka bir dile başvurur ki?

*

Stachowski is one of those who brought the Turkish word 'kaldırım' (Sidewalk-Pavement)from Greek >kalós drómos = good way (good way? 🤔🥸🤓)

Why does he look it up in an another language when there is an ice-cold Turkish verb kaldır- (to lift) ? (and it is a hundred per cent compatible in terms of meaning and shape)?

ENGLISH VERSION:

SAKSI (Vase)

 A Fun word!

While Stachowski says that the word comes from Saxony 'the center of porcelain production in Germany'/1,

Nişanyan rightly disagrees with this. The first porcelain production facility was opened in Saxony in 1710.

The Turkish word is much older/2

 Eren gives detailed information/3

Kaftan sözcüğünün Arapça veya Farsça olduğunu düşünürdüm. Şıtahovski ise sözlüğünde '*kāp + *tōn > kap-don adlı Türkçe sözcüklerin birleşmesinden oluşur' der. 'Almanca & Polonyaca'ya da burdan geçmiştir' diye ekler. Rusça Кафта́н da aynı kökenli. Gülensoy da 'Türkçe kökenli' der.

*

I used to think that the word caftan was Arabic or Persian.

Stachowski says in his dictionary that '*kāp + *tōn > consists of the combination of Turkish words called kap-don' and adds, 'It was also transferred to German & Polish from here'. Russian Кафта́н is also cognate.

Gülensoy also says 'of Turkish origin'.

*

Ne güzel bir sözcük: KUMUL Biri Yunan biri Türk iki dilci Latince yığın anlamına gelen cumulus’tan yola çıkıp Yunanca koumoúla’ya gelir, ordan da Türkçe kumulu bulurlar.

Stachowski ise ‘sözcüğün kökeni hem biçim hem de anlam olarak Türkçe kök ve ek KUM-UL ile kanıtlanabilir’ der.

German-Cardgame-Schafkopf-and-its-possible-Turkic-roots

Schafskopf. A very popular card game in Germany. Schaf means sheep and Kopf means head. >Together sheep's head.

Ok. But there is no satisfactioning etymology. Many wrote about this but none of them is certain.

Ok. Let's look at:

*

Schafkopf.

Baška: Possibly derived from German card game Schafkopf.

Or vice versa?

*

Baška is a Polish word for head. Derived from Turkish baš meaning head.

*

Baška: Möglicherweise abgeleitet vom deutschen Kartenspiel Schafkopf.

Oder umgekehrt?

*

Baška ist ein polnisches Wort für Kopf. Abgeleitet vom türkischen baš, was Kopf bedeutet.

Stachowski, a Polish linguist, wrote in his etymological dictionary of Turkic languages the information above.

Now I have solved possibly the root of "Schafkopf" as a word, not as a game.

>

Turkic baš > Polish Baška > German Schafkopf

*

I have been examining Paulys Realencyclopädie der classischen Altertumswissenschaft since May 1, 2022. I looked at the words of Scythian / Central Asian / Sarmatian / Thracian origin in this work from a Turkish perspective. The list below are words that I looked at again and didn't see, but found later.

It is possible to explain them with Turkish origin. I wanted to show this.
